Round 20 - August 9 - Montera, Collingwood, Ontario - 23 degrees sunny w/ clouds windy
Well August 9th gave me another chance at my dad. Montera is a nice course but I think it's got a long way to go to live up to it's claimed top 10 resort course in
Canada. They use a funny color code on their tees. they have gold, blue and white which are actually blue, white and red on any other course. So I'll give you the
ratings as they should read 71.8 off the blues, 69.2 off the white with respective slopes of 129 and 124.
We both started off well with dad taking a 6 and me parring with a 5. We both bogeyed the second. I parred 3 and 4 but dad exploded on #4 taking a 10. I took
three triples in a row, #5, 6 and 7. I parred eight and went out with a 47, dad ... 55.
Dad and I played equally average on the back. With nothing worth noting, although my drives were straight with a nice 260 yard poke on the 18th, I played much
better and felt much better than yesterday. I finally was able to "let nothingness into my shots" I stopped thinking and let my muscle memory do the work. Came in
with a 51 and dad with a 50, I took a gross of 98 and dad took a 105. I hit 8 fairways 5 greens and took 37 putts. Dad hit 8 fairways, only one green and took 38
putts.
I just decided to start counting penalty strokes, as its a good indication of what my score could be, I had 5 and dad had only 3.
Well it's nice to come back to the land of the living by breaking 100. I'm still a long way from 89! Tomorrow Owen Sound!
