Round 15 - July 25 - Loch March - Sunny 28 degrees very humid and calm
I was invited out by Mark Fuller the owner of Loch March to play a round as a practice round for the ensuing tournament. Mark couldn't make it! In his place I golfed with a personable 63 year old gentleman Bill "Frenchy" Renauld who happened to be a marshall at the club. I was very surprised as we walked to the first tee that Bill would not only walk the round but carry his own clubs as well. It's nice to see people walking and carrying especially older fellows, considering half of my friends either take an electric cart or a pull cart.

The first nine was rather uneventful except for a triple bogey on the par 5 sixth. I went out with a 50 and Bill went out with a 46. The back nine was considerable better, coming in with a 46 for a total of 96. I didn't get Bill's back nine score as I was in a bit of a rush to get back to the city. My moment of zen came on the par 5 fourteenth. I drove the ball over the creek which lay at about 220 yards leaving my ball about 215 yards to the pin. I hit a beautiful low drive with my three wood off the fairway dropping my ball 6 feet from the hole. It was too good to be true, but I drained the six foot put for my first eagle ever. What a glorious moment!

This round made me realize how difficult a course the Loch March is. Rated 70 off the blues and 68.2 off the whites, with respective slopes of 124.9 and 120.1. I hit 7 fairways, 2 greens and took 33 putts.

Next up, the tournament!
