Round 11 - July 5, 2000, Grey Hawk Golf Club
Well the highlight of this round was when my buddy Lino pulled out a homemade Tuna sandwich as I was about to drop $5 on a crummy wrap sandwich from the bevy cart. This was also just after I took my second snowman in a row on the fourth hole!

The Grey Hawk is a tough course. Rated at 70.7 off the blues and 68.5 off the whites with slopes of 122 and 118. Water everywhere! Lino and I teed off at around 10 Am with two guys we just met Fern and Paul. This was Paul's first round in two years and Fern's second of the year. I started out great almost birdying the first hole, a 490 yard par 5 and then paring the second. I then proceeded to fall apart taking two eight's back to back. I recovered slightly bogeying the next three, a double on eight and a par on nine to go out with a 51. Yikes. Lino was very consistent with only one par on the front going out with a 45. We had decided to play for the greens fees on the first tee. I was down 6 strokes on the gross and down one hole going to the back.

We both took doubles on ten and bogies on eleven. I took twelve with a par to put us back to even. We tied again on thirteen, and Lino took fourteen to go up one. We tied fifteen, and I took sixteen to bring us to even again. We tied on seventeen and Lino took eighteen to win the match.

Lino hit 6 fairways, 3 greens, and took 31 putts for a gross of 98, his best ever at the Grey Hawk. First time to break 100 at the Grey Hawk too! I hit 7 fairways, 3 greens, and took 30 putts for a gross of 100. Yeechhhh!!!!!! My adjusted score was 98.

Oh well, my moment of Zen was on the 16th tee. I whacked a beauty 290 yards. My best ever. I then walked up and whacked my second shot 235 with my 3 wood. Yeah! We keep on keepin' on!
