Round 8 - June 18 at The Kingsway
Even though I couldn't crack 90 Father's day was a fitting day to get my first bird of the season, on the first hole, a 462 yard, par 5 at the Kingsway. I had a 6 foot putt, from about a foot above the hole, with a strong left to right break. I drained it! Man it was great! The Kingsway on the other hand, needs a little work. The entire course was rough! Not one green was unblemished. But it's a nice easy layout, rated 68.2 off the whites, 69.3 off the blues, with respective slopes of 112 and 114, nestled away in a very picturesque setting at the foot off the Gatineau hills. I went out with my buddy Johnny "the master of disaster" Larose. It was our first match of the season, Johnny boasting an all-time unbeaten streak against yours truly.

Johnny struggled on the front coming in with a 47, hitting 2 greens, 3 fairways, and taking 17 putts and 2 pars. I took a 3 stroke lead with a 44.

3 greens, 3 fairways,16 putts, 2 pars and a bird.

It had rained for the first 6 holes but by the time we teed off for the trip home the sun was trying to crack through. Johnny started out strong with a par on ten to take one stroke from me but tripled on the13th to come in with47 again for a final round of 94. With a triple on the 12th, and pars on 13 and 17, I came in with 46 for the heart breaking 90. The final tally left Johnny with 2 greens, 8 fairways, and 31 putts, and me with 5 greens, 5 fairways, and 31 putts as well. I hate saying, "should've, would've, could've", but I missed 3, 18 inch putts. Well, the Dome awaits, this Wednesday at twilight. See you then.
