Round 4 - Friday May 26 The Loch March
Well, I figured I’d take Alain and Christine to a real course this week so we hit the links at the Loch March. As I said before this gem of a course is such a pleasure to play. Bent grass, immaculately maintained in a quiet country setting. We arrived an hour before our 10 AM tee off and hit a bucket and practiced those 3 footers on the beautifully huge putting surface that graces the entry to the club. It was a beautiful day 18 degrees, partially cloudy. Both Christine and Alain were stylish as usual, this time decked out in Piccolo gear. We all took a 6 on the first hole which wasn’t a bad start for the two rookies but I still left a little to be desired. At the end of nine Christine had tallied 65,Alain 76, and me a miserable 58. my hopes of breaking 90 were horribly dashed. Four triples and a quadruple didn’t help my score. The back nine treated me better but was disastrous for the rookies. Christine and Alain both asked that I not publish their scores but let’s just say that even with adjustments for their stylish wardrobes neither of them cracked 120. I took a 47 on the back to end up with a 105. That included three three putts, and two lost balls on one hole for a triple. I had 29 putts, six fairways in reg., and two greens in reg. Onwards and upwards!
